For example, the first state to legalize cannabis in 2012, Colorado has more than 25,000 workers in the trade and project a 170% increase within three years. They support a medical and recreational market with sales of $800 million in just the first six months of this year. Recreational sales account for two-thirds of the total, according to the state’s department of revenue.

What’s a cannabis job worth?

Budtenders start at $12.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on location and experience. Their pay is comparable to other entry-level employment, including bud trimmers, who manicure plants by hand to remove excess foliage, and greenhouse worker, who maintain the plant area. Such lowly positions do not require formal education, but they have an unlimited future to grow with the industry. On-the-job-training offers technical skills to eventually be a master grower - $125,000 plus bonus per year, and more. From a lowly worker to a millionaire would not be difficult. As Ben Franklin said, “investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
